What is on Apple TV+ this September?

As the hot summer season comes to an end, fall ushers in 4 new binge-worthy series and a movie on Apple TV+, from the children-friendly series Life by Ella to the American war dramedy The Greatest Beer Run Ever

1. Life By Ella

The family-friendly series Life By Ella is set to debut on September 2 with its touching storyline. The show follows the life of 13-year-old teenage girl Ella who returns to school after a run-in with cancer. Ella is no longer afraid of her fake friends or the obstacles that distract her from being her authentic self. She talks to the audience about her new mindset on life and forges fearlessly into the future.

The Big Show Show star Lily Brooks O’Briant takes the role of Ella with her best friends played by Claws Artyon Celestine and Irreplaceable You‘s Vanessa Carrasco. Other cast members include Mad Men‘s Kevin Rahm, Kidding’s Mary Faber, and You’s Aidan Wallace.

2. Central Park

Good news for the animated musical comedy fans, the third season of the Emmy-nominated animated series Central Park is set for September 9. Three episodes will be released on the day, followed by one episode every Friday through November 18.

New episodes of season 3 continue to centre on the cynical but modern life of Owen Tillerman and his family as they set out to protect and manage New York’s Central Park. The wealthy heir, Bitsy, heightens her pursuit of buying the park and turning it into a condo. Owen and his family come up with new marketing campaigns to awareness for the park. Audiences will get to enjoy the plot along with more than 30 songs.

3. Gutsy

The eight-part documentary series featuring Hilary and Chelsea Clinton is launching on September 9. The documentary is based on Clinton’s book, The Book of Gutsy Women, which explores the provoking journeys of women artists, activists, community leaders and heroes.

Kim Kardashian, Megan Thee Stallion, Jane Goodall, Gloria Steinem and Wanda Sykes are among the influential women featured in the series. They speak about what it means to be gutsy and how they have impacted their communities as women.

4. Sidney

Celebrating Bahamian-American acting legend and activist Sidney Poitier’s 95th birthday, Apple TV+ is releasing the new documentary series Sidney, on September 23. The documentary is based on the life story of Sidney Poitier – the first black man to win an Oscar – and his many other accomplishments.

American talk show host Oprah Winfrey is a producer, working alongside director Reginald Hudlin and the Poitier family for more than a year to bring this project to life. Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Robert Redford, Lenny Kravitz, Barbra Streisand and Spike Lee make appearances as they recount their experiences with the late actor.

5. The Greatest Beer Run Ever

How about watching a well-made war film to end September? Based on the New York Times bestseller The Greatest Beer Run Ever: A Memoir of Friendship, Loyalty and War, actor Zac Efron plays John Chickie Donahue, a former marine who goes on a wild journey to find his childhood buddies to bring them favourite American beer during the Vietnam War.

Peter Farrelly, Oscar-winning director of the film Green Book, directs Russell Crowe, Kyle Allen, and Bill Murray in this war-time dramedy.
