Before entering high school, Jimin didn’t speak out about his dream of becoming an artist. One day during third grade- right before entering high school – he shared with his parents that he wants to study dance at Busan High School of Arts and become an artist and singer. Considering young talents spend around five to ten years in preparation for entering art school, Jimin was slightly behind the rest. Nevertheless, he achieved his goal.
During year one at Busan High School of Arts, he travelled to China to learn martial arts, an opportunity previously reserved for seniors.
In 2012, Jimin’s teacher recommended that he attend an entertainment agency Big Hit Entertainment’s (now Hybe) audition. He was the only one selected from that audition held in Busan. He sang Someone In My Heart by renowned South Korean singer Lee Eun-mi.
In May 2015, he moved to Seoul to join Big Hit Entertainment as a trainee and was selected as a debut member less than six months after. His star raised quickly; within a year, he became a well-known K-pop star.
During his school days, Jimin served as class president and vice-president for nine years.
His leadership skills was evident during a i performance at his teacher’s wedding. As class president, he led the entire class to perform and sing. In an interview with Segye Ilbo, his teacher said the ceremony was like a musical and Jimin was in the centre to bring the entire class together.

Jimin’s musical talents are not limited to singing. He’s also an established composer. The first song he wrote, Promise, reached 300 million streams on SoundCloud and is the first and only track to do so since its release in December 2018.
Whatever fashion items worn by Jimin get sold out within a few days. In 2019, he landed on the annual BoF 500 list of most influential fashion figures published by fashion journal Business of Fashion. In the same year, he was listed as one of the top ten best-dressed men by GQ magazine.
Jimin is now a global ambassador of French fashion house Louis Vuitton.
