From long-awaited franchise revivals to major superhero blockbusters, June’s cinema lineup is packed with some of the summer’s biggest releases. Whether you’re into sci-fi adventures, horror comedies or nostalgic animated sequels, these five films are among the titles you should not miss this month
Masters of the Universe (June 4)
One of June’s most anticipated releases, Masters of the Universe finally brings He-Man back to the big screen in a new live-action adaptation directed by Travis Knight. Starring Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam alongside Jared Leto as Skeletor, the film reimagines the iconic Mattel franchise on a larger fantasy-sci-fi scale, following a young Adam stranded on Earth before embracing his destiny to battle evil. Early trailer reactions have already praised its nostalgic energy, ambitious visuals and playful tone.
Scary Movie 6 (June 4)
More than a decade after its last installment in 2013, the iconic parody franchise Scary Movie officially returns this June. The reboot reunites the Wayans brothers with several original cast members, reviving the chaotic humour that defined the series in the 2000s. Set 26 years after their first encounter with Ghostface, the film follows the original core group as they are targeted once again. The sequel is also expected to parody recent horror hits, such as M3GAN, The Substance and Five Nights at Freddy’s.
Disclosure Day (June 12)
Among June’s original releases, Disclosure Day stands out as one of the summer’s most mysterious films, especially as UFO discussions have recently returned to public attention following new U.S. government reports. Directed by Steven Spielberg, the sci-fi thriller follows a cybersecurity whistleblower and a meteorologist attempting to expose hidden extraterrestrial secrets to the world. The film has already generated major buzz for its timely premise and star-studded cast, including Emily Blunt, Colin Firth and Colman Domingo.
Supergirl (June 24)
As the second film in DC’s new cinematic universe following last year’s Superman, Supergirl arrives with major expectations to continue the franchise’s momentum. Starring Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, the film draws inspiration from the acclaimed comic Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, presenting a darker, punk-rock-influenced version of the character. The story follows Kara on a violent cosmic journey alongside Krypto and a young alien girl seeking revenge, while also helping shape the future direction of the rebooted DC Universe.
Toy Story 5 (June 25)
Marking the return of Pixar’s beloved franchise seven years after the previous sequel, Toy Story 5 reunites Woody, Buzz and the gang for another adventure. This time, the story explores children’s growing dependence on technology as Bonnie becomes obsessed with a tablet, forcing the toys to compete for attention in the digital age. Directed by Andrew Stanton, who co-wrote the original film, the sequel blends nostalgia with a timely story about growing up in a screen-driven world.
