#obsessed: Top picks from Unikko, Kenzo, Shiatzy Chen, and more

This month, #legend is #obsessed with the latest from Unikko, Kenzo, Shiatzy Chen, Zegna, Rosewood Hong Kong, and Hauser & Wirth

Fit to print

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of Unikko, one of the most recognised print designs in the world of fashion and art, Finnish design house Marimekko is planning a year filled with joyful activations. First up was Unikko at La Louviére – a unique artwork of light presented in conjunction with Lux Helsinki and projected onto the façade of the city’s Ateneum Art Museum. The celebrations continue this month at Copenhagen Fashion Week, where Marimekko reveals its AW24 collection and the final collection of the Unikko 60th anniversary year. Keep an eye out for more special limited-edition collectibles as well.

Run the world

Two iconic Japanese brands are coming together for the first time to reimagine one of the most iconic running shoes of all time. Kenzo x Asics, featuring three gender-neutral styles of the Asics Gel-Kayano 20, combines the colourful heritage of the fashion house and the renowned technical expertise of the activewear brand. Kenzo’s artistic director Nigo, known for his realistic approach to fashion and street culture, has designed two styles using faux fur inspired by Kenzo’s tiger graphics and another showcasing fresh, vivid colours such as blue, green, pink, yellow and orange, all contrasted by sporty white.

Full bloom

As winter slowly gives way to spring, Shiatzy Chen launches its Resort 2024 collection under the theme of “Plenteous”. Beginning in a somewhat frozen time and amidst a theatrical space, with “still lifes” as the background depicting the bursting sumptuousness and intense vitality, the collection features shades of pomegranate and apple green along with brown, black, pink and gold. It also includes an homage to the multicoloured pomegranate skirts made popular in the Tang Dynasty, illustrating a seamless blend of aesthetics across time and space, and paying tribute to the Oriental culture and spirit that has lasted thousands of years.

Like a glove

The result of a harmonious balance between design and craftsmanship and between innovation and tradition, Zegna’s new Triple Stich SecondSkin elevates the Italian brand’s popular shoe with the use of glove leather to create an increasingly personalised fit with every wear. The exceptionally soft and lightweight material, which combines the finest New Zealand calf leather with ovine tanning techniques, is resistant to creasing and able to preserve its rich quality and smoothness over time while offering a remarkable form-retaining ‘memory’. Unique among the luxury footwear market, SecondSkin is exclusive to Zegna for the next three years.

Well and good

Whether you make your New Year’s resolutions on the first of January or the first day of the new lunar year, at least one of them is likely focused on self-care and enhancing your well-being. And that’s where Asaya comes in. Rosewood Hong Kong’s integrative wellness retreat is ready and waiting to usher you into a new year feeling and looking better than ever. In addition to a range of restorative activities and transformative emotional therapies, Asaya offers pampering face and body treatments in its luxurious spa rooms or your own personal lodge. Be among the first to try the 60-minute Touch of Thailand treatment and let all your tension just float away.

About faces

Having relocated last month to a new street-level space created by Selldorf Architects at 8 Queen’s Road Central – at the junction of historic Ice House Street, Duddell Street and Queen’s Road – Hauser & Wirth’s Hong Kong outpost is kicking off the year with Chinese artist Zhang Enli’s first solo exhibition with the gallery in Asia. Faces, which runs until March 9, features new paintings that seek to capture the “essence” of the artist’s subjects rather than their physical representation through dynamic brushstrokes overlaid with colourful spheres. These gestural canvases reveal a compelling and continued exploration into abstract form.
