“…In a culture where spiritual belief runs deep, sacred adornments have long played a quiet yet powerful role in Thai life. Wearing a Buddha amulet or auspicious charm as a source of protection and inner peace is a familiar sight, but among the younger generation, such practices have begun to wane. While reverence for rituals and symbolism remains, the aesthetics of traditional pendants often feel disconnected from modern style. Enter ‘Khong Bangkok’, the visionary offshoot from Pacharee Sophie Schuemers-Rogers, founder and creative director of the jewellery house Pacharee. Through this collection, she breathes new life into sacred motifs, presenting them as refined jewellery that speaks to both the soul and the style-conscious spirit. ‘Khong Bangkok’ offers a way to wear one’s beliefs with quiet confidence and contemporary elegance…”

The idea took shape during a leisurely visit to Bangkok’s historic Old Town. As Sophie stood before a striking Buddha statue, she found herself captivated by its serene beauty. Later that day, she came across an antique coin featuring King Rama V—its presence so compelling that her travelling companion, actress Paula Taylor, remarked, “I’m sure you could turn this into something truly beautiful, in the Pacharee way.” That moment marked the genesis of ‘Khong Bangkok’, a collection grounded in tradition yet expressed with unmistakable modernity.

The line features sleek necklaces adorned with day-of-the-week Buddha images, reimagined as petite square pendants in yellow gold and accented with coloured gemstones inspired by traditional Thai birth colours. From afar, they resemble refined fashion jewellery, yet their meaning is deeply personal—elegant pieces that invite styling and layering with ease.

In addition to Buddha imagery, ‘Khong Bangkok’ also includes talismans believed to enhance good fortune in specific areas of life. Charms such as Nang Kwak, Sarika birds, roaring tigers and golden Pikul blossoms bring a touch of mysticism while retaining a lightness and modern flair. Some designs can be paired with multicoloured sai sin threads, gemstone bead necklaces or even strands of pearls, encouraging creative layering and a sense of playful spirituality. For those drawn to clean minimalism, the collection offers laser-cut square pendants engraved with sacred talisman—ancient symbols like Yunn Kraw Petch (Diamond Armour), believed to protect against negative energy, or Yunn Chat Petch, which is said to attract prosperity and ward off misfortune. There are even options for Christian wearers, including cross pendants and medallions depicting the Virgin Mary, expanding the collection’s inclusivity while preserving its soul.
