“…In a world where the rhythm of life accelerates by the day, there are still spaces that choose to slow time down, inviting guests to listen closely to the language of detail and to savour the charm of a more considered past. The newly unveiled Deco Bar at The Siam stands as a compelling testament to that idea…”

The official reopening of Deco Bar marks a new chapter for the hotel’s iconic jazz bar and bistro. Intimate in scale yet rich in character, the space draws inspiration from the opulence and artistic spirit of the 1920s, the golden age of jazz and Art Deco. Reinterpreted through a contemporary lens, it becomes a refined hideaway: calm, elegant, and evocative of classic jazz lounges where atmosphere speaks as eloquently as sound.

Behind the concept and design is Krissada Sukosol Clapp, affectionately known as Khun Noi, who deftly weaves the visual language of Art Deco into the space. Geometric lines, deep-toned materials, and carefully curated vintage accents come together in a composition that feels both nostalgic and current, an environment that encourages guests to unwind and surrender to the allure of a reimagined golden era.

Within Deco Bar lies Erte Lounge, a secluded and alluring corner inspired by Erte, the influential Art Deco artist of the 1920s. The lounge showcases a rare, limited-edition collection of Erte’s photographic works, only around 500 sets exist worldwide, preserved as visual echoes of the jazz age, celebrating movement, luxury, and creative freedom.

The name Erte also holds deep significance for The Siam, having once been the title of a legendary club within the Sukosol Hotels group, renowned for its music, art, and unforgettable performances. For Kamala Sukosol, whose bond with jazz runs deep, Erte Lounge is far more than a room, it is a sacred space where sound, emotion, and history converge.

On the culinary front, Deco Bar & Bistro channels the spirit of transition from the 1920s to the 1940s, a period when creativity flourished under constraint and craftsmanship became a quiet form of resistance. The menu is inspired by classic bistro fare, enriched with international influences, offering dishes that feel at once familiar and intriguingly new.

Highlight menus include Ocean Trout Crudo, blending Italian technique, Thai brightness, and Japanese precision, alongside the reimagined Tiger Prawn Cocktail with pomelo, avocado, and a gentle wasabi lift. French bistro heritage appears in the Pork Duck Terrine and Duck Leg Confit, while local sourcing takes centre stage in the Ratchaburi Pork Chop made with free-range pork from trusted Thai farmers. The menu balances indulgence and restraint, from the Deco Burger crafted with premium vintage beef to vegetarian creations such as Smoked Eggplant and Potato Gnocchi, with nostalgic desserts including Soft Chocolate and classic profiteroles finished with warm chocolate sauce.
The drinks programme draws inspiration from the Prohibition era, the age of speakeasies and craft cocktail culture. Signature creations like Deco Whisper, a harmonious fusion of premium Thai white spirits, nostalgic Ayutthaya candy floss, Moscato Rosé, or Green Gatsby offers a martini style expression celebrating Isan heritage, crafted with gin distilled in Ubon Ratchathani and cucumber, exemplify the seamless dialogue between local culture and global sophistication.

When all elements are woven together, Deco Bar emerges as far more than a bar or restaurant. It is a place of storytelling, where flavours, music, and design invite guests to linger, reflect, and rediscover the enduring romance of the past, alive and resonant in the present.
