Emma Watson has officially joined the board of Kering

Actress and activist Emma Watson has officially joined the board of French fashion group Kering. Best known for her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films, Watson will serve as Chair of the Sustainability Committee. Her role will focus on environmental matters that have become an increasing issue in recent years for the fashion industry.

This is not something out of the blue for Watson – in past years, she has advocated for women’s rights, environmental issues and has been a UN WOMEN Global Goodwill Ambassador since 2014.

In a statement by Kering chairman and CEO François-Henri Pinault:

“The collective intelligence that comes from diverse points of view and the richness of different experiences are crucial to the future of our organization. I am proud to add such impressive talents to the team.”

Thiam will be the Chair of the Audit Committee while Liu will bring her expertise in new technologies as well as the Chinese market to the table.
