After previewing Louis Vuitton’s pre-fall menswear collection for 2024 by Pharrell Williams, #legend gives you a rundown of the fashion and the show in Hong Kong
Pharrell Williams’ latest menswear collection for Louis Vuitton had a nautical theme that ran heavy, making it a collection perfect for its debut showing along the harbour at the Avenue of Stars.
The pre-fall 2024 collection was apparently inspired by Pharrell’s meeting with a Hong Kong business who was jetting between the Fragrant Harbour and Hawaii. That jet-setting lifestyle between these tropical location is evident in the amount of breezy suits in light linens. One that stood out to us was in white with pink stripes. Contrasts was something we noted in the collection, with short suits aplenty featuring heavy black and yellow contrasts.
Pharrell’s appreciation for Japanese craft showed through in light denim wash suit sets. Utility, workwear and technical clothing all seem to be on Pharrell’s mind for an active pre-fall season. Accessories like the Super Vision sunglasses are crafted in super-light titanium drawing from the materials of ships, and the bags also feature the nautical theme heavily.
It continues with the odd womenswear entry sashaying down the runway in pleated skirts and sailor tops. We are seeing women in surf suits show up with boards. Shoes and hats woven in raffia also embody that surfer chic.
It isn’t just the ocean that sparkles. There are also offerings that cater to the more flamboyant customer, there is always one in all fashionista circles. The show then moved into collection that sparkled and embroidery and a burgundy fuzzy logo emblazoned bomber. We are excited to see a bit of glimmer and glitz added to the typically casual chic fashion of that season.
Louis Vuitton gave us more sparkles in the form of a drone show. Spread across the night sky with Hong Kong’s ever iconic city skyline in the backdrop, it made for a spectacular show to cap the evening, enjoyed with the runway show’s cast of dynamic locals, members of the Hawaiian surfer community, and friends from around the globe.
