Making Waves with Panerai's Luminor Transat Classique Regatta

Oct 26, 2018

The Panerai Transat Classique 2015

When you hear the word Panerai, it’s only natural to think of water and the sea. To celebrate the most extreme and classic race in the world which takes place 3000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean, Panerai has created the Luminor Transat Classique Regatta. Only 150 pieces of this special limited-edition chronograph have been created for the nautical connoisseurs of the sailing world.

The functional watch face features a sophisticated and easy-to-read design

That isn’t to say you have to be a diehard sailing fanatic in order to appreciate its innovative yet modern design. If you are a big fan of the Regatta Collection, like me, then this watch is the one to have. This cross transatlantic race will start in January 2019, where a fleet of classic yachts will set sail from Lanzarote across the Atlantic Ocean, heading for the final destination at St Kitts in the Caribbean Sea. This 3,000-mile sea voyage will certainly take courage, nautical skills, strength, a strong hull and a great stomach to make sure you can last this journey.

Just imagine – sailing from Hong Kong to Macau takes 40.8 miles. I think I’ll just buy the watch and wait for the winner at the final destination…

The Panerai Transat Classique 2019 logo etched on the back

This special watch also has the map of this journey engraved with the Panerai Transat Classique 2019 logo in its domed shaped titanium back.  The bezel is finished in polished titanium with its 47mm case in brushed titanium, the perfect size for me. The watch has an overall blue look with the Panerai personalised blue rubber strap, which also comes with a second interchangeable strap. The timepiece is also equipped with all the sailing functions you need, including a flyback chronograph, regatta countdown, knots scale for calculation of boat speed, seconds reset, 72 hours power reserve and is water resistance up to 100 metres.
