“During the quarantine period, my friends and I were desperate for some fresh air and we Googled this place called Sham Tseng Settlement Basin, right at the back of my home, and decided to take on this little adventure. The place was super remote but we stuck with the map and eventually it took us 45 minutes to get to the spot. We spent a quiet and quality afternoon up the hills and I definitely recommend this spot for a weekend getaway.”

“With all the Covid restrictions nowadays, I’ve really just been hanging out at my studio in Tai Hang, Laizas Ceramic. We hold private wheel-throwing workshops during the weekends, where you can learn different pottery techniques and create your own ceramic piece. It’s super fun and a great, therapeutic way to spend your time. There are also a lot of nice cafés around so you can enjoy a cup of coffee before or after the workshop!”

“With the tourists out of town, I’ve been enjoying exploring local alleyways and old spots. I recently discovered a 70+-year-old, unassuming tea shop on Mercer Street called Fukien Tea Company. The owner – Mr Yeung and his family – are so passionate about what they do, even though they’ve been doing this for three generations. I’m looking forward to paying regular visits, great chats and learning more about tea!”

“It’s always nice to get some fresh air. Located in The Hari, Zoku Restaurant & Terrace serves refreshing Japanese cuisine and signature cocktails. I love sitting in their terrace garden, enjoying the sun and pretending that I’m in Bangkok. I also love tea, and Basao provides a decadent mix of plant-based tea lattes, hot brew tea and tea-flavoured bagels for all tea lovers. Personally, I love visiting the Wan Chai branch the most. I’m a fine art graduate so I always appreciate art. Opera Gallery is presenting the works of legendary artists Basquiat, Haring and Scharf (until May 14) with a selection of more than 36 works. Calling all art lovers to Central!”

“Thanks to the ‘catastrophic impact’ of the ongoing fifth wave, another collective memory of Hongkongers is having its very survival threatened. Dating back to 1888, the iconic Star Ferry has been sailing the waters between Kowloon side and Hong Kong Island. The green and white ferries ply across Victoria Harbour, and serve us as a distinctive attraction as well as an alternative to the underground crowds and peak-hour tunnel jams. As essential as it is to protect ourselves from the virus, life is not just about precautions and safety measures. The value of our culture matters and should be well protected. So let’s spend some quality ‘me’ time on these diesel-electric vessels and preserve what must be preserved before it’s too late!”
