Milan Fashion Week SS23: Here are the #legend picks

The much anticipated Milan Fashion Week SS23 came to an end with the unveiling of new collections from different Maisons. To wrap up this week’s glitz and glamour, here are six #legend picks from Milan Fashion Week

Diesel

All about denim, utility, pop and play: that’s what Diesel showcased to us at this Milan Fashion Week SS23. Breaking a Guinness World Record by holding the runway at the heart of the world’s largest ever inflatable sculpture, Diesel presented the collection trimmed with raw denim for pure Maison energy.

It also debuted nylon utility jackets and flying trousers with cotton layers; dresses and trousers made from organza layers; and double-layer printed T-shirts with smiley holes cut into the top layer to reveal the print beneath. It reveals that denim can go beyond the mainstream and become a stylish fashion piece.

Moschino

Shown on a runway featuring a Roman fountain front and centre, Moschino unveiled playfully incorporated inflatable pool toys and balloons twisted into heart shapes. This re-imagination of the Maison includes figures across suiting, refined daywear, graphic-impact eveningwear, and accessories.

In Moschino’s long-standing tradition, each piece holds some wink or trick of the eye and is layered with double entendre and wit. Vivid colours of yellow and blue bring a ray of sunshine, and the pink blazer and skirt set are all part of the interplay.

Versace

Capturing the energy of the dark, gothic goddess, Versace filled its runway with supermodels Gigi Hadid, Vittoria Ceretti and Binx. Black, purple, and hints of fuchsia were running through the entire collection, coming together in looks both high-glamour and hard-edged, diva and subversive.

Versace also enlisted Paris Hilton to close the show dressed in a tropical pink Swarovski crystal mesh bridal gown with a matching veil. Slinky silhouette-enhancing dresses are finished in shiny metallic jerseys. Shaggy, fur-like coats and miniskirts are crafted from upcycled production off-cut chiffon and lace in an environmentally responsible approach.

Gucci

Gucci at Milan Fashion Week SS23 was all about the twins. Titled “Twinsburg”, the Maison’s creative director Alessandro Michele cast 68 sets of twins to showcase its latest SS23 collection, which was inspired by his mother, who is also a twin. This alienating and ambiguous showcase made the whole unveiling more exciting.

Many celebrities also attended the show, including Jessica Chastain, Julia Garner and Jodie Turner-Smith from the US, Daisy Edgar-Jones from the UK, IU from Korea, Hikari Mitsushima and Ai Tominaga from Japan, and Davika Hoorne from Thailand.

Bottega Veneta

Unicorn-coloured runway and seats set the stage for Bottega Veneta’s SS23 fashion show. Supermodel Kate Moss walked the runway in looks by creative director Matthieu Blazy. Dressed in a checkered shirt and loose-fitting jeans, she offered plenty of fashion inspiration for the coming season.

Elegance meets utility: that’s what Bottega Veneta showcased. Rigorous fabrications, all freshly and exclusively formulated for ultra-lightness, fullness, movement and texture, are found throughout for both men and women. These include bold, full, knotted wool silk tailoring fabrics.

Dolce & Gabbana

Ciao Kim! Dolce & Gabbana teamed up with Kim Kardashian to co-design the Spring/Summer 2023 collection this season. Taking Milan Fashion Week SS23 by storm, the lineup was a special curation of her favourite looks between 1987 and 2007.

From embellished corset dresses to crop tops with high-waisted tight trousers and glimmering frocks, the Maison showcased whole new series of collections.
