The tragic blaze in Tai Po estate has displaced thousands displaced. Amidst the chaos, Hong Kong has turned out in force to help out those in need. If you wish to pitch in, tap here to learn how you can be of assistance.

Shelter
For residents affected by the fire, temporary shelters have been opened at the following locations:
- Kwong Fuk Community Hall (Kwong Fuk Estate, Tai Po)
- Tung Cheong Street Community Hall (1/F, Tai Po Tung Cheong Street Leisure Building, 25 Tung Cheong Street, Tai Po)
- CCC Fung Leung Kit Memorial Secondary School is also open to accommodate evacuated residents
- The Salvation Army Tai Po Youth Integrated Services (Room 301, 306, 3/F, Tai Man House, Tai Yuen Estate, Tai Po) affords a place where victims can take a break. For enquiries, call 26672913.
- The Salvation Army Tai Po Elderly Community Service Centre will be, providing overnight care to elderly people in need and supporting caregivers. Those in need can visit or call the centre (Address: 2nd floor, Tai Po Community Centre, 2 Rural Society Street, Tai Po; Tel: 26536811)
- Impact HK is offering emergency accommodation in their Prince Edward hostel for those in need. Please call 53416670 or WhatsApp 59437124
Mental health resources
For anyone else that might require mental health support, the Hong Kong Red Cross line will be open and the number to call is 51645040.
Financial assistance
The HKSAR government has announced a HK$10,000 handout for each affected household, along with a social worker for each to assist with claims and other issues. The government has set up a HK$300 million fund for this and is soliciting donations to the fund.
Legal help
Pro Bono HK is seeking Hong Kong qualified lawyers to help prepare a set of legal FAQs to address question from the incident. It is expected to cover: tenancy and land laws, employment laws, personal injury laws, and other civil matters. Once ready, this FAQ will be shared with frontline NGOs and affected individuals.
