Tudor: An explorer heritage emerges in the new Ranger watch

Aug 04, 2023

Tudor has introduced a new tool watch model – the Ranger – in commemoration of the British North Greenland Expedition from over seven decades ago. By doing so, the Swiss Luxury watch brand imbued a significant sense of heritage of the watch brand’s history into this new timepiece

Tudor’s newest tool watch model Ranger pays tribute to the adventurous spirit of expedition scientists, who conducted glaciological and seismic surveys in Greenland while wearing Tudor’s first-ever automatic and waterproof watch: the Oyster Prince model. The latest addition to the Ranger line is a combination of state-of-the-art watchmaking technology and historic aesthetics, offering an affordable instrument for the modern explorer.

And no one has done it the way Tudor has so far with the Ranger. This is a watch that appeals to those who live life in the fast lane, who thrive under pressure with grace, and who are always on the go without skipping a beat regardless of adversities on the road.

Inspired by the expedition watch, Tudor’s Ranger model is as robust as they come.

This new model continues to pay homage to the Ranger family’s history, which dates back to 1929 when the “Ranger” name was registered to add an adventurous aspect to certain watches in the Tudor collection. The Ranger’s aesthetics feature large Arabic numerals at 3, 6, 9, and 12 o’clock and uniquely designed hands.

And importantly, this new model does not lose out on style either. It features a satin-brushed case with a fixed bezel, a grained, matt black domed dial with luminescent hour markers, and “Ranger” hands with luminescent material.

The Tudor Ranger comes with three bracelet options.

The watch comes with three bracelet options  – olive-green Jacquard fabric with red and beige stripes, 316L steel with Tudor’s “T-fit” rapid-adjustment clasp, and a hybrid rubber and leather strap.

The olive-green bracelet with two red stripes and one beige stripe is woven by the craftsmen at the Julien Faure company in France. Its satin-brushed steel bracelet with the Tudor “T-fit” clasp is equipped with a system for rapid length adjustment and a third bracelet option comes in natural rubber and fabric-like textured black leather.

The timepiece is also equipped with Manufacture Calibre MT5402, which has been certified as a chronometer by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute. The watch’s power reserve of 70 hours is “weekend-proof,” allowing the wearer to take the watch off on a Friday evening and put it back on again on Monday morning without having to wind it.

The Ranger model is a true tool watch, designed to be functional and robust, and has undergone extensive field testing to ensure its reliability and precision. It embodies Tudor’s philosophy of technical performance under difficult conditions, making it the perfect partner for the modern explorer.

Another partner on the retail front with Tudor is the Emperor Watch and Jewellery group which is the official retailer of the watch brand. Emperor Watch and Jewellery opened Tudor’s newest mono-brand boutique at Ocean Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong. This leading retailer was established in Hong Kong in 1942 and is primarily focused on European-made, internationally renowned timepieces, while also producing self-designed fine jewellery under its Emperor Jewellery brand. This makes for an ideal partnership between a brand with rich European history and a retailer with a deeply-rooted past in the Hong Kong jewellery and watches landscape.
