This year, the festival features performances by acclaimed Rolex testimonees, including the illustrious Cecilia Bartoli. A trailblazer in the world of opera, Bartoli made history as the first woman to sing in the Sistine Chapel and recently assumed the role of Director of the Opéra de Monte-Carlo. She will perform in Mozart’s La clemenza di Tito, further solidifying her position as a leading figure in the classical music scene.

Another rising star, French tenor Benjamin Bernheim, a Rolex testimonee since 2017, will take the stage in Les Contes de Hoffman. His rapid ascent in the opera world highlights the festival’s commitment to showcasing emerging talent alongside established icons.

The festival will also feature performances from other distinguished Rolex Testimonees, including Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Flórez, celebrated conductor Gustavo Dudamel, and the acclaimed Yannick Nézet-Séguin. The Vienna Philharmonic, one of the world’s premier orchestras and a partner of Rolex since 2008, will enchant audiences with works by Brahms, Mendelssohn, Mahler, Bruckner, and Strauss.

A significant highlight of this year’s festival is the Herbert von Karajan Young Conductors Award (YCA), which recognizes exceptional talent in the field of conducting. The festival will present a concert featuring the YCA 2023 winner, Hankyeol Yoon, providing a prestigious platform for the young conductor to showcase his skills.

Since its inception in 1920, the Salzburg Festival has established itself as a pinnacle of artistic excellence, attracting audiences from around the globe to the birthplace of Mozart. The festival celebrates music while embracing a wide spectrum of the arts, including architecture, cinema, dance, literature, theatre, and visual arts.
