4 art performances to see at Art Central 2019

Art Central is just around the corner and the excitement is real. Aside from the best artworks to see, there are also some much-anticipated performances to look out for. From live mono-printing to interactive experiences, these are our picks to make the most out of Art Central 2019.
Bettina Fung
If you’re interested in the making-of mono-printing, this would be it. Hong Kong born British-Chinese artist Bettina Fung is best known for her live drawing performances. This year, she will be presenting I am tired with you, a 1 hour and 30 minutes-long show. The audience is also invited to take part in the process of writing, walking and conversing about contemporary culture of busyness.

Minja Gu
This month, Korean artist Minja Gu will be coming to Hong Kong for the very first time to set up a pop-up restaurant at Art Central 2019. By adopting the persona of a cooking infomercial personality, she seeks to understand unfamiliar ingredients and the city. A two-minute noodle packet is used to start a conversation about food culture and societal pressure.

Siu Lan Ko
Canadian-based Hong Kong artist Siu Lan Ko is bringing to Art Central an array of text-based installations and performances related to politics, geography and nationhood. Expect to see the Hong Kong performance artist activating the installations with her innovative ways.

Brian Fuata
We’re pretty confident that you have heard of Sydney-based writer Brian Fuata’s infamous ‘ghost’ performances. By combining bed sheets and mineral water, the living series demonstrates the images of ghost and engages from booth to booth to stimulate his poetry.
