Biarritz has always been more than a simple seaside escape for the House of Chanel – it is the hallowed ground where Gabrielle Chanel opened her first couture house in 1915. For his Cruise 2026/2027 debut, Matthieu Blazy returned to these Atlantic roots, bringing couture home

The collection was a masterclass in elevated summer, dominated by a palette of vibrant sunset hues and intricate, shimmering floral embroideries that felt like a breath of sophisticated salt air. Blazy’s touch was evident in the way he played with iconic codes – the double-C logo was masterfully hidden within the architecture of collars, the belts and the very pattern design. The silhouettes were voluminous yet remarkably lightweight, designed to flow like the wind as models walk, blurring the line between structured couture and effortless vacation wear.

The accessories were a study in playful extremes, with the bags stealing the spotlight through proportions and unexpected details. The undisputed star of the show has to be the mega-sized woven straw beach bag. For a touch of whimsy, Blazy introduced classic top-handle bags adorned with miniature baby shoe charms, adding a sense of sweetness to mature, professional silhouettes.

Throughout the collection, shimmering sequins and vibrant colour materials transformed traditional shapes into island-ready treasures, making them the ultimate must-have items for a Mediterranean getaway. It was a perfect blend of practical vacation utility and the glamour we expect from the Maison.

The footwear this season was equally revolutionary, pushing the boundaries of traditional silhouettes with playful spirit. The standout design was the fully open-toe heel, ultra-modern take on the classic pump that feels incredibly fresh. We also saw the return of the thigh-high boot, reimagined in buttery leathers and a vibrant colour palette. These boots, when paired with Blazy’s slim fit swimsuit-like one-piece, balanced edge with elegance. The collection successfully blend in 1915 heritage with a bold, 2026 vision.
