The stars aligned in Los Angeles on May 13 as Jonathan Anderson made his highly anticipated Cruise debut for Dior. Departing from the house’s traditional Parisian setting, the 2027 Cruise collection was staged in the heart of LA, channeling the city’s deep connection to cinema to reframe Dior’s heritage through a dreamy, cinematic lens. More than a runway show, it was a love letter to Hollywood’s golden age. Below, a recap of the standout moments

The looks
The collection drew heavy inspiration from the longstanding bond between Dior and Hollywood, taking a 1949 haute couture jacket worn by Marlene Dietrich in Alfred Hitchcock’s Stage Fright as its starting point. This archival nod was seamlessly fused with California’s natural landscape, with the vibrant California poppy serving as a recurring motif in the form of embroideries and shimmering elements.

For the womenswear, Anderson reinterpreted the iconic Bar Jacket with a relaxed, casual edge, utilising earthy tones and frayed bouclé wool to create a silhouette that felt LA. The looks transitioned from structured tailoring to embroidered evening dresses and shearling coats, capturing the multifaceted personas of the creative city.

On the menswear front, the collection played heavily with texture and experimental collaborations. A standout set of archetypal American shirts appeared, made in partnership with legendary artist Ed Ruscha, incorporating typography and elements from existing artworks. The tailoring was noticeably more relaxed, with blazers cut in looser silhouettes and shirts featuring playful wordplay.
Accessories

Accessories followed this consistent floral narrative, with footwear that bordered on wearable art. Heels were literally animated by flowers, huge tassel earrings also added a sense of rhythmic movement, perfectly punctuating the silhouettes. The men’s looks were highlighted by the addition of flower necklaces.
Bags

The bags this season also underwent a sophisticated transformation. Anderson introduced streamlined updates to the iconic Saddle, alongside a new bucket shape featuring the Dior Médaillon and a sleek shoulder bag with a crescent-shaped base. Many of these pieces were brought to life through a nature-inspired colour palette.
Celebrities

The front row mirrored the collection’s star power, featuring Anya Taylor-Joy in a sculpted, all-black architectural gown and smoky eyes. Blackpink’s Jisoo brought a sense of playful elegance in a puffy black-and-white polka-dot mini dress. Sabrina Carpenter also dazzled in a butter-yellow lace ensemble, perfectly embodying the “walking flower” aesthetic that defined the night.
