ICYMI: Louis Vuitton and Nike partner on Air Force 1 drop
Jun 30, 2021
Just when you thought summer couldn’t get any hotter, Louis Vuitton has gone and collaborated with Nike on a release of the sportsluxe sneakers, as part of the French fashion label’s spring/summer 2022 collection.
Unveiled on Friday during Paris Men’s Fashion Week, the sneaker release sees Louis Vuitton, via creative director Virgil Abloh, take Nike’s iconic Air Force 1 to glorious style heights. The reimagined Nike kicks, namely Air Force 1 Mids and Air Force 1 Lows, feature varying patterns and prints – the Louis Vuitton monogram print and highly-recognised Damier check – and come in 21 different colourways, including white with either red, green, or blue.
Each sneaker pair carries a word like “Air” on the sole and “Lacet” (laces, in French) on the laces, punctuated with Abloh’s signature quotation marks, as seen on his designs for Off-White, the streetwear brand he founded in Milan, and still designs for.
The shoes also feature a small neon green tag on the side, and a label with the Louis Vuitton name and the Nike swoosh on the tongue.
Sneakerheads (and collectors alike) will rejoice at this added bonus: a special case has been crafted by Abloh to house the sneakers. Made in bright orange leather and stamped with Louis Vuitton’s monogram, there’s even a 3D tag in orange leather with a white swoosh on top.
Dates for the release of the Louis Vuitton X Nike Air Force 1 are yet to be revealed. “Stay tuned,” was the brand’s response when asked by media from the Paris show sidelines.
