#legendloves: Torsade de Chaumet high jewellery collection

In an ode to the historic hôtel particulier at 12 Vendôme, Chaumet has released a high jewellery line, entitled Torsade de Chaumet. A quick French lesson for the uninitiated, “hôtel particulier” is a grand townhouse, not unlike a British townhouse, and “torsade” means twist, which is a staple in Chaumet jewellery.

The collection definitely lives up to its name as twists feature prominently in this collection. Drawing inspiration from the column which stands in the center of Place Vendôme, the jewellery elegantly mimics the spirals wrapped around the pillar.

The collection contains 17 pieces and predominantly features white gold and diamonds. With the occasion brightly-coloured gem, the whole collection has a distinctly classic feel to it with a modern twist. The coils in each piece, however subtle, also bring a level of abstractness and create the impression of constant movement.

Our favourites have got to be any of the tiaras. In an avant-garde take on a tiara, thin coils sweep a band that lays along the curve of the wearer’s head. It’s almost reminiscent of something the cool villain would wear in a fairy tale film.

If the villain dons the modern spiral tiara, then the princess definitely wears this classic-looking tiara. Perfection in symmetry, this piece presents a cleaner, more refined look with its tight coils and brilliant cut centre stone. Now all you need is a matching ball gown and then you’re ready for the ball!
