#legend100does: Hot happenings in March 2025

Mar 11, 2025

We’ve asked our community for the hottest events they’ve marked down in their diaries this month. Be it art, food or entertainment, our plugged-in friends know what’s most happening

“Every March when Art Basel takes over Hong Kong, the city itself becomes a canvas – alive with colour, movement and creativity. Art spills from galleries into the streets, sparking conversation and inspiration at every turn. Whether you’re here to discover, collect or simply feel the pulse of artistic expression, there’s no better time to dive in. Start with Picasso for Asia – A Conversation at M+. This groundbreaking exhibition pairs Picasso’s masterpieces with works by contemporary Asian artists, offering a rare dialogue between cultures and generations. Expect to see The Acrobat and Portrait of Dora Maar alongside compelling pieces by Isamu Noguchi, Luis Chan and more. It’s a fresh way to view Picasso’s legacy through an Asian lens.

For a luxurious stay, Rosewood Hong Kong curates an experience that blends luxury with art. Aboard a private yacht, glide across Victoria Harbour en route to Art Basel, champagne in hand. The hotel itself is a gallery, offering a guided tour of its private art collection – proof that creativity thrives in every corner of the city. Just steps from Art Basel, The St. Regis Bar offers another kind of artistic immersion. Behind the bar, Zhang Gong’s commissioned piece reimagines Hong Kong’s iconic skyline, setting the scene inspired by the city’s neighbourhoods. The cocktail menu captures Hong Kong’s essence, with each drink inspired by a different neighbourhood’s culture and flavours. As the city quiets down, escape to Visage One in Sheung Wan. This intimate jazz bar is the perfect hideaway, where music takes centre stage and art lovers gather for soulful performances. With so much to explore, Art Month in Hong Kong is an invitation to
see, taste and experience creativity in every form. Let the city inspire you! ”

“Lots of art happenings this month! The show I’m most looking forward to is the large-scale Picasso retrospective at M+ opening mid-March. Another interesting one,
also at M+, is the Wellbeing Workshop, which begins with an invigorating flow yoga glass followed by a gallery visit. I have yet to check out the Cézanne and Renoir exhibition at the Hong Kong Museum of Art, so I’ll definitely be finding time for that. Art Basel and Art Central are a must, obviously. I also want to recommend Pretopia by Alicja Kwade, a leading installation artist based in Berlin, now showing at Tai Kwun. It’s on view until April 6 and I’ve seen it twice already – Alicja has created a very interesting illusion for the audience to experience in the installation in terms of time, space and materials. ”

“This month I’m looking forward to travelling to Japan with my mum. But within Hong Kong, I’ve been loving Tap Mun, or Grass Island, in the north of Sai Kung. It’s famous for its grass fields and feral cattle, and is such a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle. Continuing this theme of nature, I also want to recommend Repulse Bay and St. Stephen’s Beach for admiring the sunset. ”
