With a touch of luck and a call for renewal, Van Cleef & Arpels greets spring with creations teeming with verve and vigour. Enter the French maison’s new and aptly named collection, Lucky Spring, designed with vibrant and nature-inspired motifs representing this season of rebirth.

Comprised of a sautoir, bracelets, a clip, and a pair of earrings, Lucky Spring features delightful ladybugs, and rejuvenating portrayals plum blossoms, lilies, bells, and valley leaves, using mother-of-pearl, carnelian, and onyx set on warm-toned rose gold.

This new line sprung to life (pun intended) as the Maison tapped celebrated and multi-talented designers, all of whom winners at the 2018 and 2019 Design Parade Toulon. Two talented duos – Céline Thibault and Géraud Pellottiero, and Kim Haddou and Florent Dufourcq – then went to work on the collection that ultimately became Lucky Spring.

Drawing from Thibault’s experience as a textile designer and silk-screen printer, Pellottiero’s expertise as an interior designer, and the professional interior design specialties of Haddou and Dufourcq, the Lucky Spring creations are spirited, sophisticated but also has that architectural element to them, make it a wonderful addition to the Maison’s whimsical roster of jewels.

Designs aside, craftsmanship and faithful depictions always take precedence at Van Cleef & Arpels and it’s no different with Lucky Spring. We see this in the intricate gold pistils in the plum blossoms, as the corolla – made from mother-of-pearl – blend beautifully with the nacreous sheen of the lilies of the valley and the leaves crafted delicately in rose gold.

The unsuspecting ladybug though, in my opinion, headlines the collection which at a mere 1.5 cm in length stands out with its vibrant red carnelian sheen that contrasts stunningly with deep black onyx. And should you be looking for something a bit more elegant, the spring clip presents a fine, sophisticated montage of the season, featuring motifs in high relief and a combination of vibrant hues and iridescent mother-of-pearl.

We promise you that this dreamlike collection will compel you to flounce about a lush meadow, or at the very least make you wish that you were.
