Airbnb’s foray into the luxury rental market has begun with its acquisition of Canada-based startup, Luxury Retreats for $200 million USD. 

The site is dedicated to renting high-end homes in the same vein as Airbnb. Some of the homes available on the market include places on Richard Branson’s Necker Island and an Italian villa owned by Francis Ford-Coppola. The Luxury Retreats portfolio also includes property from some of the most coveted holiday destinations around the world, including St. Barts, Tuscany and Palm Springs.

Luxury Retreats offers a personalised bespoke service, providing professionally inspected properties, villa specialists that help match guests with ideal accommodation, and a round-the-clock concierge.
