The genius of Monsieur Dior captured in short film

French house Dior dug into its archives and found a 14-minute video that documents Mr Christian Dior preparing for the 1949 Haute Couture show and it’s gold. For those who have not seen it, it’s up on YouTube for everyone’s guilty pleasure.

Directed by Henri A. Lavorel, the documentary with the title “Haute Couture”, offers extraordinary access to Monsieur Dior’s awe-inspiring creative process. The film trails the designer from beginning to end — from conceptualising the collection, sketching the dresses, creating them in his atelier, to model fittings and the actual show.

And because runway shows were not the extravaganzas they are today, the short film really homes in on Christian Dior’s sheer brilliance, making it such an inspiring watch. Fashion lovers or not, we’re sure you will enjoy this one.
