Seoul International Drama Awards 2022: list of winners

The long-awaited Seoul International Drama Awards 2022 was held on September 22, and with that comes a new list of winners. Here, we highlight high-profile Korean celebrities winning numerous awards

Hosted by renowned actor Joo Sang-wook and a member of K-pop band A-Pink, Jeong Eun-ji, the Seoul International Drama Awards 2022 was full of glitz and glam. Celebrated movies, dramas, actors, directors, and screenwriters received recognitions, including the French film Nobody’s Child receiving the award for Best TV Movie and Han Hee-jung’s The King’s Affection, receiving the Best Screenwriter award.

Here, we highlight four Korean stars who took home awards for Outstanding Korean Actor, Outstanding Korean Actress, Outstanding Korean OST (original soundtrack) and Outstanding K-Pop Idol Actor awards.

Outstanding K-Pop Idol Actor – Kang Daniel

Former Wanna One member Kang Daniel won the Outstanding K-Pop Idol Actor award with his latest drama, Rookie Cops. This young CEO in the music industry showed recognisable talent in the drama, which tells the story of freshmen recruits at the elite Korean National Police University. Kang starred as Wi Seung-hyun, an honours freshman who wants to take after his father.

He won the category with 45 per cent of the votes.

Outstanding Korean OST – Lim Young-woong

Celebrated South Korean trot and ballad singer Lim Young-woong received the Outstanding Korean OST award with his song “Love Always Run Away” for the drama Young Lady And Gentleman. He received the highest number of votes, 2.9 million in total, which marked 59.53 per cent.

Lim thanks the production crew and cast members of Young Lady And Gentleman and his fans who made the award possible, expressing his gratitude and well wishes for them to stay healthy and happy.

Outstanding Korean Actress – Jisoo

Jisoo, member of K-Pop girl group Blackpink, took home the Outstanding Actress Award. The accolade highlights her remarkable performance in the role of Yeong-ro, a university student who entwined in a tragic love story with Soo-ho, in the drama Snowdrop.

During her acceptance speech, she said, “It is my honour to receive this award. I thank all the staffs and fans who made the drama delightful and successful. I will try my best to show you the best performance in the future!”

Outstanding Korean Actor – Kim Seon-ho

The Outstanding Actor Award went to Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha actor Kim Seon-ho. Playing Hong Du-sik, Gongjin’s handyman Chief Hong, Kim shared a heart-warming romance with actress Shin Min-a who played Yoon Hye-jin, earning him the ‘Good Boy’ title among K-drama fans.

Following his win, he thanked his fans via social media. “I thank you all for who loved the drama series Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha and the staff who made the drama possible. This award is not for me but for all who contributed to creating the best drama. I will work harder to become a better actor!”
