#legend100does: Hot happenings in December 2024

Dec 12, 2024

We’ve asked our community for the hottest events they’ve marked down in their diaries this month. Be it art, food or entertainment, our plugged-in friends know what’s most happening

Wilfred Wong @thatwilfred

“The Tsz Shan Monastery hosted the Kindfulness Symposium on December 7 and 8. The event features renowned scholars engaging in stimulating discussions and deeper learning on the latest developments in the science of happiness, promoting kindfulness, sharing practices and approaches in caring for our well- being. There were also presentations and panel discussions in the morning, as well as experiential learning sessions and workshops, ranging from sound healing experiences and forest therapy to psychotherapy workshops, a Buddhist art museum tour, thematic seminars and more! Lately, I’ve also been enjoying Yuan, a modern Chinese vegetarian fine-dining restaurant helmed by executive chef Ronald Shao and head chef Law Chak-kei that is allium-free. I recommend the matsutake soup with chrysanthemum tofu, and asparagus with cauliflower chili, coriander, lime and mint.”

“The Cheung Hing Coffee Shop in Happy Valley is one of my go-to’s – they serve great milk tea, egg tarts and pineapple buns, as well as other cha chaan teng classics. I’ve also been looking forward to going snowboarding since last winter ended. And now that snow season is here again, I can’t wait to spend most of my weekends snowboarding at Tahoe, as well as our annual trip to Whistler in Canada!”

Veronica Li @vnikali

“There’s a lot this month to look out for. First, Hong Kong’s annual international racing extravaganza, the Longines International Jockeys’ Championship, is returning to HKJC from December 4 to 8. Then, from December 5, Villepin is presenting Day Zer0, the groundbreaking first solo exhibition at the gallery, featuring transformative works by Japanese artist Yukimasa Ida. And last but not least, Landau’s has opened at Wu Chung House, offering modern European cuisine made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, so I’ll be sure to check that out!”
