#legend100does: Hot happenings in December 2023

We’ve asked our community for the hottest events they’ve marked down in their diaries this month. Be it art, food or entertainment, our plugged-in friends know what’s most happening

Jen Balisi @indulgenteats

“As a Filipino who loves Christmas, December is my favourite time of the year! We’re celebrating all month long at Barkada, my modern Filipino restaurant with Singular Concepts, with Christmas Karaoke Brunch every Saturday in December along with holiday specials like lechon belly (like a Filipino version of porchetta) and pineapple glazed ham to enjoy in our dining room that’s been fully decked out with decor. I also can’t wait for all the Christmas displays and to watch Christmas movies. I’ve already got my tickets to rewatch Home Alone 2 at The Grounds for the perfect festive outdoor movie.”

“December is holiday season and that means parties and celebrations. My friends and I always start our nights with pre-drinks at Draft Land, a tavern serving pre-batch-only cocktails on tap (my go-to is drink #14: Oolong Tea Collins), before heading to Padre for a night of good music and good vibes. Sometimes we’ll stop by The Savory Project, too!”

“The holiday season is upon us, and that means gifts! For those who appreciate a personalised touch to their gifts, I recommend visiting Buddy Workshop, where you can create soothing spin art or sand candles or tuft a Christmas rug all while looking out at the sea! You can also convert a photo of your choice (the recipient’s favourite Pokémon, pet or movie character, perhaps) into 2D pixel art that can be cast via a projector onto the tufting cloth. After you’ve finished tufting, you can transfer the design onto a carpet or tote bag, or display it as a Christmas decoration!”
