Austen Chu, co-founder and CEO of Wristcheck, has built one of the most exciting Gen-Z watch marketplaces by redefining how a new generation buys and sells timepieces. With a deep passion for high horology, Chu deliberately moved away from the traditional “buy low, sell high” model of the secondary watch market, focusing instead on transparency, curation and community. His approach has earned strong resonance among younger collectors – and even caught the attention of Jay-Z, who became an investor in the company. Chu’s love for watches was already evident in 2016 while studying at NYU Shanghai. He regularly visited boutiques across the city, photographing exceptional pieces and sharing thoughtful commentary on social media. That personal account remains one of the most meaningful aspects of his journey as a collector today.
