Although Adeline Rudolph is now building her career through major Hollywood productions, she was actually born and raised in Hong Kong to a Korean-German family. She attended the German-Swiss International School before later studying political science at University College London. That international upbringing would later shape her path into the global entertainment industry, while Rudolph has continued speaking openly about how much Hong Kong influenced both her identity and worldview growing up.

Before acting entered the picture, Rudolph first made her way into the fashion industry through modelling. She worked with Next Model Management in the US while also signing with Primo in Hong Kong and PMA in Hamburg, later appearing in magazines including Marie Claire and Elle. After relocating to Los Angeles through a work visa sponsored by her modelling agency, Rudolph decided to try acting classes, a decision that eventually led her toward finding an agent and beginning her acting career.

Most of her roles exist within dark, fantastical worlds

Looking across Adeline Rudolph’s filmography so far, a pretty clear pattern quickly emerges. From her debut in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Riverdale to Resident Evil, Hellboy and now Mortal Kombat, many of her projects exist within dark fantasy, supernatural or horror-driven worlds. Interestingly, Rudolph herself has spoken about how these genres often seem to “find” her naturally rather than being something she actively searches for, which makes her casting choices feel surprisingly consistent.

Adeline Rudolph’s casting as Kitana in Mortal Kombat II easily marks one of the biggest projects of her career so far. Taking on one of gaming’s most iconic female characters pushes Rudolph further into blockbuster territory while introducing her to an even wider international audience. To prepare for the role, she also underwent over a month of martial arts training, highlighting just how physically demanding the role became behind the scenes.

Her most significant role may still be on the way

Even beyond Mortal Kombat II, Rudolph still has another major project waiting ahead through her leading role in Tomie, the live-action adaptation of Junji Ito’s legendary horror manga. Cast as the iconic titular character, Rudolph steps into one of horror’s most recognisable and culturally influential figures. Given how closely her career has already become tied to darker fantasy and horror storytelling, the role feels especially fitting and could potentially become another defining moment in her career.
