In today’s fashion scene, sustainability has become a central point of conversation. Many fashion brands are taking the necessary steps to commit to sustainability and British luxury brand Burberry is on the front line.

The fashion house recently announced that it will stop using unnecessary plastic packaging by 2025. In a statement, Burberry also confirmed that all its packages will be reusable, recyclable or compostable.

A while ago, Burberry had already removed plastic laminations from its retail bags and is planning to replace their hangers and bags with environmentally friendly options by the end of this year.

In addition to it, the luxury brand also plans to start a hanger take-back program where discarded hangers will be recycled and reused.

Last September, Burberry, along with many other high-end fashion houses, announced a new fur-free era.

Clearly, sustainability has become a priority for the brand during Riccardo Tisci’s reign. In fact the brand has also joined Renewable Energy 100, an initiative in which 100 businesses have began using renewable energy sources.

Most importantly, the fashion maison stated that it will follow all the guidelines in the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment report published by the Ellen MacArthur foundation.
