Dec 06, 2024

David Ho gives you the latest dining recommendations in Hong Kong for the month of December

Vista

With breathtaking views of Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island, a dinner at Vista is always an occasion to remember. The Italian restaurant has revamped its fixed-price menu, starting at HK$528, where guests can choose from two, three or four courses from an extensive menu of starters, pasta and risotto, main dishes and dessert (with a selection of side dishes available for an additional HK$58 each). The highlights here are the Tableside Fassona Beef Tartare, Risotto with Saffron and Osso Buco. Each course boasts at least five options, so you are sure to find something for everyone. We highly recommend having their with signature Tableside Tiramisu for a sweet finish to your evening.

The highlights include Atlantic King Red Prawn & Coriander Molho (HK$398), Wood Pigeon, Foie & Berries (HK$298) and Venison “Estufado” Stew with Wild Mushrooms (HK$340). These seasonal dishes are available from now till January 31, 2025.

Tiffin, Grand Hyatt Hong Kong

If you are looking for Santa, you can find him on Sundays (December 8, 15, and 22) at Tiffin within Grand Hyatt Hong Kong where he is engaging in some storytelling during a festive afternoon tea. A magical time featuring a medley of savoury and sweet treats with Santa awaits little dreamers and the young at heart. Available at HK$580 per adult and HK$290 per child.

Konjiki Hototogisu

Konjiki Hototogisu, the Michelin-acclaimed Japanese ramen chain, has come up with a Foie Gras Porcini Chicken Ramen (HK$148). The new, limited-time dish features an impressive Shoyu Chicken & Fish Soup, crafted from over 40kg of whole chicken and simmered for six hours with a selection of vegetables such as potatoes and onions. The flavourful broth is then enhanced with a fish soup made from three different types of natural dried fish from Japan for a complex and aromatic foundation. The two broths are combined and finished with a homemade chicken oil, extracted from 100% Japanese chicken skin. The rich soup is then topped off with slow-cooked Japanese Chicken Breast, a buttery Pan-fried Foie Gras, and Fried Porcini with Dried Tomato.

Yonna Yonna Gelato

Those with a sweet tooth will be happy to welcome yet another new gelato offering in town. An offshoot from Okinawa’s Yanbaru Gelato,  Yonna Yonna Gelato has opened its doors in Hong Kong at The Twins in Kai Tak. There are 11 vibrant flavours of the delicious frozen dessert available here, all derived from Okinawan fruit and served by the cup (HK$48 each). We adore the Orange Vanilla Mascarpone, which combines a citrusy edge and sweet vanilla with rich cheesy overtones. The Yanbaru Gelato classic won the Japan National Grand Prize in 2015 so you know others agree it’s a highlight.
