Watches and Wonders 2025: Hublot's novelties celebrate the 20th anniversary of its Big Bang

Apr 16, 2025

Hublot celebrates the 20th anniversary of its Big Bang collection with a series of novelties that span singular releases and curated sets. David Ho reports

The Hublot Big Bang 20th Anniversary Master of Sapphire Set takes chromatic transparency quite literally with five distinct colours of the Big Bang MECA-10, each crafted in either polished sapphire or polished Sapphire Aluminium oXide and rare Earth Mineral (SAXEM), an ultra-resistant material with great brilliance. The five case colours are Natural White Sapphire, Water Blue Sapphire, Deep Blue Sapphire, Purple Sapphire, and Neon Yellow SAXEM. It marks the first time the MECA-10 calibre has been cased in sapphire, and each piece is powered by the HUB1201 manual-winding skeleton movement.

Those who like solids more may prefer the Big Bang 20th Anniversary Materials and High Complications Set. Each of the five timepieces are unique in the way they tie the Manufacture’s most advanced materials with its most ambitious complications.

Hublot has also come up with a collection of five special editions that fuse the original Big Bang and the Unico generation via five distinct materials that includes King Gold, Magic Gold, Red Ceramic, Titanium, and Sapphire. Each different case material reflect a pivotal point in Hublot’s material development.

The Swiss watchmaker also has a Big Bang Unico Water Blue Sapphire in a newly developed tone. The case, bezel, and caseback are machined from polished Water Blue sapphire crystal, a shade inspired by tropical seas and achieved through a proprietary crystallisation process. Imagine a splash from a tropical ocean wave on your wrist and you have the Big Bang Unico Water Blue Sapphire.

The Big Bang One Click Joyful collection also has five vibrant references that pairs bold colours with gemstone settings that enhance them. Each piece features a 33 mm polished stainless steel case set with 36 gemstones across the bezel, which can be in red spinels, orange sapphires, pink sapphires, blue topaz, or tsavorites. The glossy white lacquered dials give the colours room to shine.

Hublot has also added Petrol Blue and Mint Green ceramic as two new shades for the Big Bang Unico 42 mm and Big Bang One Click 33 mm. These tones extend across the cases, dials, and lined rubber straps of their respective models.
