A. Lange & Söhne’s Minute Repeater Perpetual features the chiming mechanism alongside a perpetual calendar
Two of the most mechanically demanding complications, the minute repeater and the perpetual calendar, find their way to A. Lange & Söhne’s latest creation. On their own, each of these two complications represents marvellous watchmaking. Bringing them together is a feat that requires precise orchestration of both engineering and acoustics.
The Minute Repeater Perpetual comes to life through a new manually wound movement that combines these two highly demanding complications—one chiming the hours, quarters, and minutes, the other indicating the day, date, month, and leap year without the need to be corrected until 2100.

Propelling these functions is the L122.2 calibre, which also brings momentum to the 24-hour display, the small seconds and the moon phase. The manually wound movement, featuring the maison’s signature German three-quarter German silver plate revealed through the sapphire case back, has a 72-hour power reserve. Also behind the sapphire caseback are the gong hammers and the gongs of the minute repeater, which chimes the hours, quarters and minutes with a push of the lever on the left of the case- this minute repeater mechanism alone features 194 parts.

Equally breathtaking is the enamel dial, which is crafted in-house and fitted inside a 40.5 mm platinum case for enhanced acoustics. The piece is instantly recognisable thanks to the oversized date positioned at 12 o’clock, a signature of the German house. The hour markers in Roman numerals contrast the date and sub-dial. Truly a rare beauty, the watch is limited to 50 numbered pieces only. The timepiece is paired with a black alligator strap with a matching deployant buckle in titanium.
