David Ho has a look at the latest fashion shown on the runways of Paris for Spring/Summer 2025
Aigle
With a show at the maze garden of the Musée du Quai Branly, Aigle's Atlas collection for Spring/Summer 2025 was fittingly inspired by nature.
Giambattista Valli
Inspired by Milan Kundera's novel The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Giambattista Valli explored the concept of "the weight of lightness" for his Spring-Summer 2025 collection at Paris Fashion Week. As a result, we see soft fabrics being paired with light chiffon and feather elements that that flow and create an elegant and airy fashion sensibility for women.
Victoria Beckham
Victoria Beckham's Spring/Summer 2025 collection focuses on how fabric fits to almost merge with skin, making use of clever tailoring and illusion. But when paired with blazers or trousers, the combinations mix softness with a strong and assertive aura. Beckham may be leaning on her Girl Power ethos without realising it.
Vivienne Westwood
Vivienne Westwood's latest women's wear offering gave us a myriad of neckline designs, but it was consistent in terms of clean lines, lightweight fabrics, and distinctly feminine details.
Issey Miyake
Issey Miyake gave us one of the more unique collections of the week with with a collection entitled The Beauty of Paper. As implied by the name, everything from the show was anod to the material. The seating in the venue was made from compressed paper and even a series of garments were made from traditional Japanese washi paper and smooth satin fabrics. It was divisive for some but Miyake's brand continues to push the boundaries of materials used for wear.
Chanel
Chanel took and ran with the idea of flight for their new offerings, with chiffon and feathers intricately paired with tweed details, imbuing the designs with a sense of lightness. This made for vibrant and dynamic looks for Spring/Summer 2025.
Rick Owens
Rick Owens provided his second ode to tinseltown with his Hollywood collection for Spring/Summer 2025. At first glance, it seemed like he was going to recycle his S/S 25 menswear line with a colour swap from all white to black. But later on, we see a series of strapless gowns that would fit right in on the red carpet.
Isabel Marant
Isabel Marant served up bohemian chic with embroidery, weaving, fringe, and leather patchwork details aplenty in the earth-tone heavy collection.
