The highlights of Paris Fashion Week 2024 so far

Sep 26, 2024

With Paris Fashion Week 2024 running from September 23 to October 1, David Ho has a look at the latest wear being paraded down the runways of the French capital

Ganni

The Danish label made sure its debut appearance at PFW had something for everyone, with a diversity of silhouettes for its latest contemporary wear. The brand’s colourful and whimsical approach to fashion was reflected in their Spring 2025 offerings.

Yves Saint Laurent

For Spring-Summer 2023, Yves Saint Laurent is exaggerating classical silhouettes by adding layers with a punkish edge. The traditional suit and tie combo were made sharper with leather jackets as a salute to the maison’s founder, while the more feminine designs carried a serious boho-chic swagger. Bella Hadid’s runway comeback also made the event one to remember.

Christian Dior

As a nod to Dior’s showcase at this summer’s Olympics, archer Sagg Napoli shot arrows at a target as the models did their thing around her for the Paris show. The fashion took on an athletic twist, with the collecting giving an Amazon warrior vibe with the gladiator skirt worn by Napoli and one shoulder tops aplenty.

The Row

The Row, founded by celebrity twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, has always epitomised quiet luxury. The brand was born when Ashley set out to create the perfect white T-shirt for the luxury lover, and had even extended their branding to just a single gold chain with no logos or brand tags. So it’s no surprise that their Paris show was all about simple but timeless designs with luxurious fabrics. It’s the essentials but at a super luxury level.

Dries Van Noten

This marks the brand’s first showing since Van Noten retired earlier this year. Understandably, the brand kept it close to the signatures of their founder with colourful fabrics and flowy designs. The collection supposedly has the green light from Van Noten himself too so the transition to one without him at the helm is understandably smooth. But it will be more interesting to see how future collections evolve as they move forward without his input.
