The Panerai family has been making precision instruments for the Italian military for over a century. Its patented Radiomir, a radium-based substance that allows for self-luminous sights for launching torpedoes at night and for firing weapons in general, was created in 1916. The Radiomir watch prototype was then presented in 1935. At Watches and Wonders 2023, the Italian watch maker unveils new iterations in this beloved line
Radiomir Annual Calendar
The Annual Calendar’s complication enables one to tell the seconds, minutes, hours, days, and even each month of the year. The change from 30-day and 31-day months is done automatically by the mechanism, with the exception of February. The complication provides clear and immediate readability, while a sapphire crystal open-back case showcases the sophisticated and fascinating mechanics within the 45mm case.
Radiomir California
For the first time ever, a California dial is crafted in 45mm as it is in the new Radiomir California. It has traditionally been produced in 47mm. The green colour also makes it a worthy addition for any watch collector. With a case set in Brunito eSteel, also a brand-new finishing and another first-ever in Panerai’s history, it serves an antiquated look with modern updates.
Radiomir Otto Giorni
The latest Radiomir Otto Giorni combines brand-new finishings with vintage appeal. It is inspired by the very first Radiomir prototype in 1935 which measured 47mm in diameter. But every Radiomir Otto Giorni now comes in individually hand-finished eSteel cases, giving each piece unique characteristics. The eSteel is a next-generation metal obtained from pre-consumer recycled steel scraps, where up to 95 percent of it comes from different industries to significantly reduce CO2 emissions.
Radiomir Quaranta in Goldtech
Radiomir Quaranta is regarded as the most contemporary and versatile of Radiomir models. It is is set in a polished Goldtech case, matched with a white sun-brushed dial and a matt brown alligator strap. Developed by Panerai, Goldtech is a gold material that includes a combination of platinum and copper that gives it an intense red appearance.
