We’ve asked our community for the hottest events they’ve marked down in their diaries this month. Be it art, food or entertainment, our plugged-in friends know what’s most happening

“I’m looking forward to spending time outdoors and getting back to the beach now that the weather is warmer. Long Ke Wan is breathtakingly beautiful and one my favourite parts of Hong Kong. Barkada by Jen Balisi (@indulgenteats) in Central has been a frequent hangout of mine for happy hour. They have a fun indoor-outdoor space with great cocktails – the Barkada Sour is my go-to!”

“We live on Lantau Island, which is a hidden gem on its own. I love walking my son to school every day as we’re so close to nature and there’s always something exciting to see – water buffaloes, giant earthworms that my son loves to play with (so gross) and cows (last week I had a cow eating strawberries from my garden, which I was not happy about as it took me forever to grow them!). There are also lots of beaches and hiking places, so many cool places to explore. I do miss my friends in the city, though, so I try to go in at least two times a week. I love Zuma (I don’t know a mom that doesn’t and we have a mummy date next week booked with all the Lantau mums). I’m also a fan of Cassio, Castellana, Dragon-i (DI is in my DNA), and a new kids must is Triangle Plus. There’s so much stuff for them to do and the kids can’t get enough of it. And let’s not forget New Town Plaza – they’ve just opened up a whole area for kids. Love it! Not sure if this is a lucky thing or not, but my kids prefer to eat at home. Maya has been home this week, so we’ve been making soups. We made miyeok-guk (Korean seaweed soup) and Chinese chicken soup. And, of course, we’re making homemade brownies – not from the box!”

“I want to share some of my hidden gems. For coffee, Tram View Cafe in Mid-Levels is my go-to place because I love how quiet it is and they have a wide range of food choices from Hong Kong-style gong zai mein to a burger and fries. For dinner, I would recommend 11Westside. There aren’t a lot of taco places in Hong Kong and 11Westside is one of the best! Also, I love that they have a hidden bar inside the restaurant where I can enjoy a drink right after dinner. For clothes, honestly, I only do online shopping these days but I do love going to Midwest Vintage in Tin Hau for vintage clothes. I love thrift shopping and I wish there were more shops like this in Hong Kong. It’s really satisfying when you find a good piece that you know you won’t ever see someone else wearing. I’m also really looking forward to Eggslut opening in Hong Kong. I highly recommend the burgers – I would drive 45 minutes to have one when I was still in college in LA!”
