You might have noticed on IG stories yesterday that a lot of the fashion set at Milan Fashion Week were wondering why Dolce & Gabanna were asking everyone to turn off their WiFi. Then, almost an hour later, the show opened with drones carrying their latest collection of handbags down the runway to the soundtrack of Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s ‘All of the Stars’.
Almost like they were flying out from heaven, the red, white and black top-handled bags were all encrusted with heart clasps and set the tone for the looks to follow, which play on the Catholic Church, sinners, saints and devotion. Models walked out draped in black lace veils, regal jeweled crowns and crosses reinterpreted as statement earrings.
Decadent brocade dresses were juxtaposed with regal velvet sweatshirts adorned with “Royal Love”, “Fashion Sinner” and “Fashion is Beautiful” and other religious iconography such as clerical collars and cherubs embroidered onto tops and skirts. Aside from the bold, blingly looks there were also incredibly well-tailored trousers sets and coats in sumptuous prints.
Whether you’re a saint or sinner – these looks are only for the most devout followers of the church of fashion.
