Dec 20, 2021
The magic may have ended on the big screen but that doesn’t mean you can’t relive it or create your own. From the mischief filled home of the 90s Christmas classic to the extravagant palazzo of the illustrious Aldo Gucci, here are five homes featured in iconic movies now available for stay
House of Gucci
Starring Lady Gaga and Adam Driver, Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci is stirring major Oscar buzz. What else? The 16th-century grandiose villa overlooking Lake Como is featured in the film as the home of Aldo Gucci. Belonging once to Cardinal Tolomeo Gallio, the property was seen by generations of successors, each adding their own contributions from stuccowork to frescoes to the construction of a small church, shaping it into the picturesque villa it is today. Located in Lenno, Italy, Villa Balbiano is available for a one-night stay in the spring of 2022.
Home Alone
Besides a stellar cast, the ultimate Christmas classic Home Alone could not be complete without the McCallister’s family home itself. The three-storey, five-bedroom private residence in the suburbs of Chicago is a tourist staple, with visitors at all times of the day gazing at the infamous mansion on the outside. However, this holiday season, fans may just get to have their dream come true and step into this holiday classic with a one-night stay hosted by Kevin’s mean older brother Buzz McCallister, filled with booby traps, aftershave and all your 90s favourites.

Avengers Endgame
It’s been two years since Tony Stark’s heroic death, but the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Avengers: Endgame is still tear-jerking nevertheless. And for the Marvel-holics out there, what would be better than a chance to live in the very same home as the “genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist” himself. Home to the iconic “I love you 3000,” the secluded lakeside cabin situated in Chattahoochee Hills, Georgia, is up for grabs. And even if you’re not an Avenger’s fan, the rustic getaway offers everything from a beautiful landscape to fishing and horse shows – something is bound to suit you.
Twilight
Remember the room where Edward Cullen was watching Bella Swan sleep? Creepy but yeah, this is the house. The 1930s home in downtown St Helens, Oregon is available for stay and is sure to give all you Twilight fans the most authentic experience (minus the vampire husband). Just a short drive away, you can also visit the city of Portland, home to various attractions including a rich arboretum and vibrant art scene. Be sure to book early though as you can bet the Swan House fills up fast!
Harry Potter
And last but not least, featured in one of the most successful movie franchises of all time – the De Vere house standing in Lavenham, Suffolk, also known as the Potter Cottage in Godric’s Hollow. Listed as a grade 1 property, the 14th-century cottage boasts a rich history and was previously owned by the Earls of Oxford. Key architectural features include a spiral stone staircase, as well as a rare original medieval wall painting. Now transformed into a bed and breakfast, Potterheads can now spend a night (or two) at the idyllic cottage.
