Although dim sum can be a daily brunch affair, going “yum cha” seems particularly appropriate when Dragon Boat season comes along. And if you do, why not go in style? Here are four hotels around town with special dim sum offerings to add that extra flavour to your weekend
The Peninsula Hong Kong
To celebrate one of the liveliest and most colourful holidays on the Chinese calendar, the Dragon Boat Festival, The Peninsula Hong Kong introduces delicious festive treats of Michelin star calibre. The culinary team at Spring Moon restaurant will offer a collection of special dumplings as per custom. Executive chef Lam Yuk Ming offers four different rice dumpling choices. Diners can purchase them individually or as gift sets and pair them with zesty signature condiments.
Guests can choose from three options – Premium, Deluxe, and “Golden Twins” glutinous rice dumplings. Premium glutinous rice dumpling uses pre-seasoned sauce with abalone to deepen the flavour with a touch of diced fresh abalone and 30-head dried Middle Eastern abalone. This Premium dumpling with prized dried scallops and Yunnan ham is priced at HK$688.

Mandarin Oriental
Mandarin Oriental’s Michelin-starred restaurant, Man Wah, welcomes diners to enjoy its delicate dim sum and signature dishes. To nourish the festive mood of Dragon Boat and Father’s Day this June, executive Chinese chef Wing-Keung Wong presents special set menus.
An assorted dim sum platter is a promising start for those who want to try the house’s all-time favourite dim sum, valued at HK$148 per person. Braised Bird’s Nest in Supreme Broth and Pan-fried Australian M9 Wagyu with Asparagus are pleasant alternatives to relish the classics.

Nam Fong
Newly opened on the 20th of May, Nam Fong in Le Merdian at presents visually and tastefully creative Cantonese cuisine. Led by award-winning chef Bosco Li, the bistro serves truly outstanding Cantonese dishes from fresh local ingredients and traditional recipes.
Highlights of dishes include Nam Fong Steamed Shrimp Dumpling, Steamed Spotted Grouper Dumpling in Pickled Mustard Green Sauce, and Deep-fried Assorted Mushroom Glutinous Dumplings.

Here is a good option for vegetarians. Specially designed for vegetarians and health-conscious eaters, the culinary team at Regal Hotels is launching a new Regal Supreme Vegetarian Rice Dumpling. This vegetarian option is crafted with Porcini and Mixed Beans with a mix of five different beans.
Classic options are always part of their menu. Elevating these classic festive flavours with luxury ingredients, the diner serves Whole Abalone Rice Dumpling, Fish Maw, Conch, Chinese Ham and Conpoy Rice Dumpling, Glutinous Rice Dumpling with Conpoy, Lotus Seed Paste Rice Dumpling, and Osmanthus Red Bean and Taro Paste Rice Dumpling.
