This year, the 83rd Golden Globe Awards honoured the best in film, TV, and podcasts. David Ho reports on the 2026 edition
Comedian Nikki Glaser returned for her second year in a row of hosting duties for the Golden Globes. Going into the night, Leonardo DiCaprio’s One Battle After Another leads the film category with nine nominations, including the coveted nod for Best Picture. For TV, The White Lotus led the pack with six nominations.
One Battle After Another emerged as the big winner of the night, with four wins in its film categories. For shows, Netflix’s Adolescence continued its winning streak with a similar tally. It won the Golden Globe for Best Limited Series, Best Actor in a Limited Series, as well as Best Supporting Actor and Actress in a TV series.
KPop Demon Hunters won big by scoring victories in Best Animated Film and Best Original Song for “Golden”. Earlier in the show, Glaser performed a parody of “Golden” only to be stopped by The Nanny star Fran Drescher, who nasally told Glaser to stop as her voice was “annoying”. Surprisingly, musical powerhouse Wicked failed to pick up any wins.
This year, the Golden Globes started recognising podcasts as part of its show. Amy Poehler won the inaugural Best Podcast award from Snoop Dogg, who admitted that he was “high as a motherf**ker right now.”
