Watches and Wonders 2024: It’s all rosy for Vacheron Constantin with new Overseas collection

Vacheron Constantine launches new pink gold iterations for the ever-popular Overseas collection, Gloria Fung writes

A design that’s come to define Vacheron Constantin for a new generation of watch lovers, the Overseas is having its moment under the sun and is currently one of the most sought-after sports watch references. The design, inspired by travel, exudes the design ethos signature to the luxury sports watches: a shape that’s neither square nor round, a design with an integrated bracelet. The reference has injected new energy into the watchmaker.

Vacheron Constantin Overseas Automatic 41mm

The wildly successful references since its re-edition in 2016 included renditions in steel featuring black and blue dials. This year, the watchmaker paints an entirely fresh look with a new pink gold rendition that is paired with an olive green dial.

The new pink gold reference is presented in four iterations: chronograph, dual time, and date renditions in 41 mm and 35 mm with diamonds. The genius of the Overseas, besides its distinctive sporty form, is its quick-release interchange strap mechanism. Each new timepiece comes complete with three straps: a pink gold bracelet, a rubber strap and a calfskin strap, both in green.

This introduction of a pink gold case marks a first for the Overseas collection; a self-winding calibre powers each of the pieces. The watches are built for travel and adventure and are water resistant up to 150 metres.

The quartet of pink gold overseas is completed with a sapphire crystal case back that reveals the self-winding movement’s oscillating weight, decorated with Vacheron Constantin’s emblematic compass rose.

Along with the rose gold additions, the Overseas Tourbillon Titanium with an ultra-thin self-winding tourbillon movement also joins the Overseas family.

The manufacture calibre 2160, which has a three-day power reserve, sits protected behind the signature blue Overseas dial that has an opening at 6 o’clock position to showcase the tourbillon.

And staying true to that versatile appeal of the worldly Overseas, the watch comes with three interchangeable straps, one in Grade 5 triple-blade titanium and a calfskin and rubber strap that matches the tone of the blue dial.
