The Vacheron Constantin "Métiers d'Art Elégance Sartoriale" collection

Vacheron Constantin has unveiled a new take on men’s tailoring with a collection of watches that match sophisticated style with high-level technical expertise. The result is a collection of five watches inspired by some of the world’s most famous fabrics, such as tartan and pinstripes.

The “Métiers d’Art Elégance Sartoriale” collection pays homage to all things sartorial with its range inspired by high-end men’s tailoring. The collection is crafted with the combined expertise of several skilled craftspeople, requiring hours of work and perfect mastery of traditional decoration techniques.

Stamped with the Geneva Seal, the collection comprises five models with 40mm cases in rose or gray gold. These house a main dial finished in one of five motifs inspired by famous fabrics, as well as an off-centre gold subdial at three o’ clock set within a mother-of-pearl rim. The subdial has a tapestry-patterned finish, inspired by motifs seen on ties and pocket squares, and has painted roman numerals plus gold hours and minutes hands.

The originality and complexity of Vacheron Constantin’s new watches is seen in the main dial, where a hand-finished guilloché decoration makes a crescent-moon-shaped backdrop for the hours and minutes subdial.

The five models in the “Métiers d’Art Elégance Sartoriale” collection inherit patterns from sophisticated fabrics, directly inspired by the world of luxury men’s tailoring. A Prince of Wales check motif is finished with translucent Grand Feu enamel in a raspberry red colour; a herringbone pattern is finished with translucent Grand Feu enamel in a lavender shade; a windowpane pattern gets a translucent taupe-coloured Grand Feu enamel finish; a pinstripe pattern is matched with translucent Grand Feu enamel in a linen hue; and a tartan pattern comes in translucent azure blue Grand Feu enamel.

The watches use the 1400 calibre, a manual-winding mechanical movement developed and manufactured by the watchmaker. This offers hours and minutes functions and has a 40-hour power reserve.

The watches are accompanied by an alligator strap in various colors (burgundy, dark brown, taupe, blue) and a pair of cufflinks matching the subdial’s motif.
