1. La Perla
opening party
La Perla celebrated the grand opening of its new Hong Kong flagship on Russell Street, Causeway Bay with a sexy soirée on the roof of Pier 4; the perfect vantage point to overlook their new city. Guests in attendance, including Liu Wen, Hu Bing, Chelsea Chau, Faye Tsui, Feiping Chang, Olivia Croucher-Buckingham and managing director Chiara Scaglia, enjoyed performances choreographed by renowned dancer Blanca Li and nibbled on sweet Italian treats like gelato and limoncello pops.
2. Jinjuu opening party
The JinJuu opening was by all counts a who’s-who of the Hong Kong social scene. Launched with a bang, celebrity chef Judy Joo’s new modern Korean concept was a truly a night to remember. DJ’s played until the early hours, and the relaxed atmosphere meant the VIP guests could let their hair down and enjoy the night.
3. Calvin Klein Jeans party
With superstar performances by Justin Bieber and Jay Park, it is no wonder the Calvin Klein Jeans event was one of the biggest parties of 2015. Also in attendance were American model and Calvin Klein spokesmodel Kendall Jenner, local socialites Claudine Ying, Harris Chan, and bloggers Tina Leung and Bryan Boy. The event was also live-streamed across social media for fans around the world to enjoy.
4. The Hong Kong Cancer Fund Ball
The Hong Kong Cancer Fund Ball is always a spectacle to behold, but this year, the theme of ‘Once Upon a Time’ might be the best one yet. KITEC was completely transformed into a wonderland full of fantastical creatures that transgressed from decor to entertainment to even the food, where wasabi was sculpted by hand to resemble frogs. The fairytale evening ended with HK$1.7 million raised for cancer research.
5. amFAR Gala
Tickets to the amFAR Gala hosted by Shaw Studios were one of the most sought after this year, as the people of Hong Kong vied for the chance to meet Victoria Beckham, Paris Hilton, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Gwyneth Paltrow, who attended the event alongside local celebrities such as Wincy Wong, David Tang and Kim Robinson. The stars in attendance were treated to the DJ stylings of Remy Kersten and a performance by the ‘Blurred Lines’ man himself Robin Thicke. The March 14th event also honoured Michelle Yeoh for her contribution to the fight against AIDS. Proceeds exceeding US$4 million was put forward to help AIDS research.
6. Davidoff Art Basel cocktail party
Art Basel is in itself one of the highlights of the social calendar with countless parties to accompany it. Davidoff decided to break the mould and took their ‘Art initiative’ event to the sexy side of art; the art of burlesque. Dita Von Teese danced her signature sultry style and Michael Wong performed for the crowd at the Grand Hyatt hotel.
7. Landmark Boutique Boulevard
The Landmark’s ‘Boutique Boulevard’ is one of Hong Kong’s finest luxury shopping spots. So when in May they invited VIP guests and fashionistas to experience the luxury brands at their best, they turned out in the masses. Pop star and fashionista Rita Ora walked the red carpet along side Victoria Tang, Coco Lee and Michele Li, before getting up on stage to perform. The in-store experiences gave guests a new appreciation for fashion and was hands down the biggest event of the year.
8. Veuve Clicquot “Yellow is the New Black” party
The Veuve Clicquot ‘Yellow is the New Black’ was a party in celebration of the unique. Victoria Tang, Hing Chao, Bonnae Gokson and Zing were treated to the fine champagne stylings of the iconic name at Armani Privé in May. The idea was inspired by the ‘black sheep’ – the one who dares to be different and is a trailblazer for others. Select guests were invited to design their own sheep that will be placed around Hong Kong as a symbol of their individuality.
9. Coach Backstage party
Celebrating the re-opening of their Harbour City boutique, Coach hosted an intimate cocktail party that was a place to see and be seen by Hong Kong’s fashion crowds. The event, which took place at PMQ, saw Feiping Chan, Kathy Chow, Tina Leung, Ricky Kwok and Yvette Yung mingling and dancing to live music.
10. Ports 1961 menswear party
Ports 1961 celebrated the launch of their menswear collection with a huge party at Central Pier 4 late last May. Nearly 1,000 guests were in attendance, and even the sluggish heat didn’t stop them from dancing to live performances by DJ Avener, French dance crew Les Twins, up-and-coming blues singer Elle King and Big Sean.
