Tod’s is officially collaborating with Japanese leather goods brand Hender Scheme, the Italian luxury house’s latest design collaboration with another luxury brand.

After Alessandro Dell’Acqua in 2018, Alber Elbaz in 2019, and Japan’s Mame Kurogouchi in 2020, Tod’s has now revealed its creative director, Walter Chiapponi, has teamed up with Hender Scheme founder, Ryo Kashiwazaki, for a forthcoming capsule collection due this Autumn.

While exact details of the collaboration are yet to be revealed, Tod’s said the design partnership will boast “the expertise of both brands by combining Tod’s legacy and Hender Scheme’s contemporary approach, called ‘New Craft’.”

The design partnership forms part of the Marche-based company’s ‘Tod’s Factory’, a creative laboratory that sees Tod’s tap designers and artists from the world of luxury and design to produce innovative and unconventional projects.

As part of the project, Kashiwazaki’s Hender Scheme will be granted access to Tod’s iconography, artisanal know-how, and materials, allowing the Japanese designer “to create a novel collection with complete creative freedom,” Tod’s added.

The Tod’s X Hender Scheme capsule collection will launch in September, with an event during Milan Fashion Week, and will be available immediately after in select Tod’s boutiques, on Tods.com. It will also be for sale at 10 Corso Como in Milan and Seoul and at Dover Street Market in Tokyo, Beijing and Singapore.
