The exquisite taste of The Macallan’s Double Cask Collection is captured in a collaboration with acclaimed photographer Erik Madigan Heck
Since it was first distilled in 1824, The Macallan has maintained an unrivalled commitment to the mastery of wood and spirit for its single malt whiskies. The brand’s signature taste, quality and dedication is best exemplified in its Double Cask Collection of single malts.
Now The Macallan has teamed up with acclaimed American photographer Erik Madigan Heck on a new campaign to showcase the signature taste and unique flavour notes of each whisky variant within The Macallan’s Double Cask Collection.
Heck, who describes himself as “a painter who utilises the medium photography”, works with natural light and combines in-camera effects with digital post-production. He is the recipient of the International Center of Photography’s Infinity Award, the FOAM Fotografie museum talent award, the Forbes’ 30 under 30 award, and The Art Director’s Club Gold Medal for his Old Masters Portfolio published by The New York Times Magazine.
Distilled in both American and European oak sherry seasoned casks, The Macallan’s Double Cask Collection has a distinct sweetness thanks to the higher proportion of American sherry seasoned oak casks used for maturation. Heck has visually presented his interpretation of it in a series of still-life photographs inspired by classic Flemish still-life paintings of the 17th century.
The three works draw from mixed landscape shots and still-life compositions that fully utilise colour, texture and light to capture the full-bodied heritage and experience that The Macallan aims to deliver with every sip.
