David Ho finds out who made the cut at the 97th Academy Awards, taking place on March 2 

For this year's Oscars, Emilia Pérez leads with the most nominations, 13 to be exact. The Brutalist and Wicked follow closely behind with 10 nominations each.

However, Emilia Pérez's Selena Gomez did not net any nominations and continues to be on the receiving end of criticism for the way she handled her Spanish dialogue in the film. Wicked's director Jon M.Chu and star Jonathan Bailey also surprisingly failed to gain nominations, though its co-leads Cynthia Erivo were both nominated.

Demi Moore is also in the running for Best Actress for her turn in The Substance, though her co-star Margaret Qualley was also conspicuously absent from the list, despite being nominated in most previous awards shows. First-time nominees made up a big part of the acting categories, with 13 individuals scoring their first ever Oscar nods.
