“…As Zambia’s dry season begins and the mist from Victoria Falls thins, Avani Victoria Falls Resort invites guests to immerse themselves in the country’s rich culture and natural beauty through the exclusive Boma Dinner, an extraordinary culinary experience that combines traditional flavours, storytelling, and local music along the riverbank. Ideal for couples, families, or solo travellers, this unique evening offers a true taste of Zambia…”

Boma Dinner takes place every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at Mukuni Boma, an open-air dining space perfectly positioned to enjoy the wildlife and scenery of Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The cooler, clear-sky months from July to October provide ideal conditions for safari exploration, and guests may catch a glimpse of the striking rock formation known locally as the Skeleton of the Falls.

Guests will savour a four-course menu crafted from locally sourced ingredients and signature dishes from across Africa. Highlights include Chikanda, a spicy delicacy made from indigenous orchids, and Ifisashi, a peanut and leafy green stew, each plate reflecting generations of culinary wisdom passed down through Zambia’s rich heritage.

As lanterns glow and the rhythm of traditional drums fills the air, the evening comes alive with storytelling, folk music, and dance performances by local artists, including the renowned Amakhezi troupe. Guests are encouraged to join in, dancing or playing the Djembe drum, creating an immersive experience where the line between host and visitor disappears.

Boma Dinner epitomises experiential dining, allowing guests to engage directly with Zambia’s local culture while forging a meaningful connection to its roots and traditions.
