When it comes to trending songs, none shines brighter than ROSÉ’s upbeat hit, ‘APT.’ This lively track has captured the hearts of fans worldwide, made even more special by the collaboration with the iconic Bruno Mars. The overwhelming success of ‘APT.’ has seamlessly carried over to ROSÉ’s latest single, ‘NUMBER ONE GIRL.’ This heartfelt track delves into the desire for acceptance and recognition. With powerful lyrics, ROSÉ’s stunning vocals, and Bruno Mars returning as a producer, ‘NUMBER ONE GIRL’ is a testament to the magic of their creative partnership.
ROSÉ recently opened up about the inspiration behind her latest single, NUMBER ONE GIRL, in an interview with Zane Lowe on Music Daily. She shared how honoured she feels to receive incredible opportunities in her career but admitted that being ‘number one’ in the hearts of many is no easy feat. ROSÉ revealed, ‘We wrote this song after a night at an event. I felt great being there, but at the same time, it felt like I was not fulfilled like I was chasing after something. I kept asking myself, what exactly am I running after?’ She described feeling a sense of emptiness and confessed that scrolling through social media only deepened it. Confronted by a flood of hateful comments, she found herself deeply disappointed. Having grown up believing, ‘Stay confident. Don’t let others’ words hurt you,’ facing such negativity challenged her in unexpected ways.
'NUMBER ONE GIRL’ is a song that channels ROSÉ's heartfelt emotions, expressing her desire to be understood and accepted for who she truly is. She openly shares that despite her imperfections, all she hopes for is acceptance without judgment. She also revealed that the single symbolises a form of a toxic relationship, one where she feels trapped by the obsession with being judged by people who don’t truly know her. She added, ‘I became obsessed with these groups of people who judge me without ever really knowing me.’ The track will be featured on her upcoming album rosie, set to release on 6 December.
