The 67th Annual Grammy Awards in 2025 was reimagined to support the MusiCares Fire Relief campaign, aimed at helping those affected by the recent wildfires in the Greater Los Angeles area. The fundraising efforts and donations during this year's Grammy event were focused on alleviating the damage and helping restore the lives of those impacted by the natural disaster. This collaboration went beyond just charity work, it also reflected the unity and resilience of the music community in times of crisis. Among the night’s standout winners was one of the city’s most iconic artists, Kendrick Lamar, who took home the evening’s biggest award, Record of the Year for Not Like Us. The song has become a powerful reflection of sharp critique and has had a significant impact on the music industry this year.

The rapper took to the stage to accept the Record of the Year award with a heartfelt speech full of pride for the city he calls home. Not Like Us, a track that critiques Drake and addresses various social issues, became not only a chart-topping hit but also an unofficial anthem for Los Angeles. With its raw, straightforward lyrics and inspiration drawn from his life in the city, the song resonated deeply with fans. Kendrick Lamar shared during his acceptance speech: "We gon’ dedicate this one to the city…I can’t give enough thanks to these places that I rolled around since high school, and most importantly the people and the families out in Palisades and Altadena. This is a true testament that we will continue to restore this city."

For Kendrick Lamar, Not Like Us was not only a commercial success but also received critical acclaim. The track topped both the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Rap Songs charts for 21 consecutive weeks, becoming a topic of conversation across media and social platforms. His ability to take home such a prestigious award this year further cements his skill and influence within the music industry. Additionally, his choice to honour Los Angeles in his acceptance speech highlights the city's deep significance in his journey, reinforcing the importance of his roots in shaping his music and career.

This made her the first Black woman in over 50 years to receive this accolade in the category. Furthermore, the exceptionally talented Sabrina Carpenter took home Best Pop Vocal Album for Short n’ Sweet and Best Pop Solo Performance for her global hit Espresso. These wins highlight her growth in the music industry and her continued evolution as an artist with undeniable talent and versatility.
