Widely regarded as one of the standout films of 2024, Emilia Pérez was undoubtedly deserving of every award it received.

Next up is The Brutalist, a film that won three major awards. The movie tells the story of László Tóth, a Hungarian-Jewish architect who escapes World War II and relocates to the United States, a land of opportunity and freedom, to begin a new life. The film won Best Motion Picture – Drama, Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama, and Best Director. The acceptance speech by lead actor Adrien Brody was one of the most emotional moments of the night, deeply moving everyone in the room. He said: “You know, this story is really the character’s journey is very reminiscent of my mother’s and my ancestors’ journey of fleeing war and coming to this great country. I owe so much to my mother and my grandparents for their sacrifice, and although I do not know fully how to express all of the challenges that you have faced and experienced, and the many people who have struggled immigrating to this country, I hope that this work stands to lift you up a bit and to give you a voice. I’m so grateful. I will cherish this moment forever.”

Another unforgettable moment at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards was Demi Moore winning her first-ever award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for her role in The Substance. Despite having been nominated four times previously, this was her first win. Her acceptance speech was one of the most poignant of the night. She spoke about the moments of self-doubt and the constant questioning of her acting abilities. She admitted to once feeling undeserving of any awards, but ultimately, she overcame her insecurities and the harsh criticisms. She concluded her speech with these powerful words: “In those moments, when we don’t think we’re smart enough, or pretty enough, or skinny enough, or successful enough, or basically just not enough: I had a woman say to me, ‘Just know, you will never be enough, but you can know the value of your worth if you just put down the measuring stick.”
